FAQs about Veneers

Here’s what you should know about getting dental veneers in Whitefish, MT.

Do you offer up closed-lipped smiles when it’s picture time? Do you find yourself hiding your smile from those around you? We understand how a misshapen, discolored or flawed smile can make you feel insecure, but we also know just how frustrating it can be to spend all your time trying to hide your smile. Luckily, our Whitefish, MT, dentists offer a simple, effective cosmetic solution that can renew your smile: dental veneers.

What are dental veneers?

Veneers are very thin layers of porcelain that are designed to match the color of your teeth. These shells are then bonded permanently to the front of your teeth. Each veneer is custom made to cover each individual tooth.

What problems can veneers fix?

Since veneers cover the entire front surface of your teeth, they can easily hide a wide range of imperfections including,

  • Cracks and chips
  • Stains and discolorations
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Misshapen or worn teeth
  • Gummy smiles

Veneers are also able to alter the shape, size and color of one or more teeth. These shells can also correct minor misalignments such as gaps between teeth, crowding and even slightly crooked teeth.

How do I get dental veneers?

Once you’ve come into our practice for an evaluation and we’ve decided that you’re an ideal candidate for veneers, we will need to prep your teeth for your veneers. Since veneers are incredibly thin, we will only need to remove a very small amount of enamel from the front of your teeth. Then we will take impressions of your mouth.

We will then send your impressions to a dental lab where they will take a couple of weeks to make your new restorations. Once they are ready, you’ll come back into the office for a final fitting. Veneers are bonded to the front of your teeth using dental resin and a curing light to harden the resin.

How long do dental veneers last?

It’s important that you are dedicated to caring for your smile so that you can maintain your veneers for as long as possible. With the proper care, they can last anywhere from 7 to 15 years, or even longer. Of course, it’s important that you are also visiting our dental practice for your routine checkups every six months so that we can check the integrity of your veneers. At some point, they will need to be replaced, and our team can easily fix or replace your veneers.
